How this resource works
There are five main pages in the material, all of which are linked to the main page. Each page was constructed in a similar way, the starting point being a PowerPoint presentation, with spoken narration and embedded transcription, but supplied in a web-accessible form using Articulate Presenter. This approach has a number of benefits, the key ones of which are being able to:
- see the structure of the presentation
- navigate to the desired place
- read the transcript of the text (which may be quicker than listening)
- search both slides and script.
| To work through the resources in this way, all you need do is to click on the “View webcast presentation” icons. On some pages there is just one icon in the right-hand column; others have multiple sections and icons linking to each are embedded in the text |
| The webcast resources are also available for download as PDF prints created from the storyboard version of the webcast. |
As with all the section pages, each of the concertina sections below expands to give more detail.
Supplementary information
There are two types of material, with different icons:
industry webcasts made available by our partners, but with some editing and in Articulate format – the sound-tracks are the best quality available from the original webcast recordings |
interviews and case studies specifically produced for this project, again in Articulate format, but in some cases with attached documents giving further information |
Using Articulate
The Articulate window is very flexible, but that flexibility comes at the price of some complexity. When you first open the window, you should get a display that looks something like this, with conventional video controls on the bottom bar, and navigation in the left hand column.

The progression can be started and paused in the usual way and the fast forward buttons move you forward or backwards from slide to slide:

Clicking on right arrows will expand the navigation; clicking on down arrows will condense the detail:

You can look at thumbnails, rather than the outline version:

You can search in slide text and notes:

Pressing the loudspeaker icon towards the left at the bottom brings up a volume dialogue:

The notes page at the bottom of the screen, which contains the text for the slide being viewed, can be revealed or closed by pressing the notes icon. By default this is closed at launch, so that the full slide is visible, both the content and any collaborator company information.

An alternative way of viewing the notes, which avoids obscuring the bottom part of the slides, is to select the Notes tab in the navigation panel. The notes will scroll as the presentation plays.
The control on the far right moves you progressively between different views of the material, which include a full screen version with basic controls (run/pause; show text) and no navigation.

Do experiment with Articulate to get whatever results are best for you, but be aware that the system will remember the last page that you visited on that presentation (if cookies are enabled on your computer) but not your display preferences.
Note: In order to simplify the navigation, not every slide is included. In consequence, there will be some occasions when a right arrow indicates that there should be slides in that category, and clicking the entry changes the arrow to a down arrow, but reveals no further slides. This indicates that some slides have been hidden in the navigation. They can, however, be viewed, and searched, and are included in the storyboard print.
Another effect of hiding slides in the navigation is that the total number of slides shown is the number of slides in the navigation, not the total number of slides that form the presentation and appear in the storyboard print.
